Early season teal and wood duck hunting this year was outstanding. My duck hunting clients bagged a total of about 25 wood ducks and about 50 blue-winged teal during the opening day weekend. The action was fast with all hunters getting steady action. Quite a few duck were un-recoverable due to the very heavy brush on the lake. Best action came to the duck hunters that used a Mojo (mechanical) battery operated decoy.

Duck Hunting Report - Florida Lake Okeechobee - September 26, 2006

Lake Okeechobee duck hunter Jeff Burke (Lehigh Acres, FL - e-mail: jbighorn@msn.com) seen plenty of ducks and had some action shots at blue-winged teal and woodies during a morning of early season duck hunting on September 26, 2006 with Captain Ron. Ducks were hunted in the Moonshine area of Lake Okeechobee.

Lake Okeechobee duck hunter Pat Whittlesey (Tampa, FL - e-mail: p.whittlesey@earthlink.com) bagged a wood duck and seen plenty of ducks and had some action shots at blue-winged teal and woodies during an afternoon and morning of early season duck hunting on September 25th. & 26th. 2006 with Captain Ron. Ducks were hunted in the PVC Pole & Moonshine areas of Lake Okeechobee. Pat also combined a wild boar hunt on the afternoon of September 26th.

Duck Hunting Report - Florida Lake Okeechobee - September 23 & 24, 2006

Lake Okeechobee duck hunters Dave Morris and a friend (Jakin, GA - e-mail: drnitrox@yahoo.com), Jeff Summerlin and a friend (Bainbridge, GA - e-mail: 1asequip@bellsouth.net) and Martin Mobley (Valdosta, GA - e-mail: mgmobley@terminix.com) bagged a total of 34 ducks that consisted of 27 blue-winged teal and 7 wood duck during a morning of duck hunting with Captain Ron on September 23rd, an afternoon on September 23rd. and a morning on September 24th. They had a dog with them that was able to retreive all 34 ducks they dropped. One other woodie they dropped in very heavy brush could not be located by the dog. They hunted over decoys in the PVC Pole and Moonshine areas of Lake Okeechobee.

They seen several ducks all out of gun range during a Sunday morning of early season duck hunting on September 24, 2006 with Captain Ron. Ducks were hunted over decoys in the Moonshine area of Lake Okeechobee.

Duck Hunting Report - Florida Lake Okeechobee - September 23, 2006

Lake Okeechobee duck hunters Mike Compitiello (Plantation, FL - e-mail: mikecompitiello@cs.com) and a friend got their limit of ducks during a morning of duck hunting on September 23, 2006 with Captain Ron. They had an excellent morning of duck hunting with many shots at wood ducks and blue-winged teal. Most of the ducks were not found due to the heavy under brush that surrounded the pot hole they were hunting. It was so heavy that one of the guide boats had that was looking for the downed ducks had to be towed out of the heavy brush. They hunted over decoys in the PVC Pole area of Lake Okeechobee.
