The Florida early wood duck season opening day morning on Lake Okeechobee this year was excellent. The afternoon hunt was fair. The early blue-winged teal opening day season likewise was excellent. For some reason there were hardly any duck hunters out on opening day weekend. I likewise did not have a large turn out of duck hunters. In any event the wood duck hunting was the best I have seen in years. There were woodies flying in singles and pairs most of the mornings and late afternoons.

Lake Okeechobee duck hunter Gabe Lavina (Miami, FL - ph: 305-342-6322) had some action shots at blue-winged teal and wood ducks during a morning of duck hunting on September 26, 2005 with Cap'n Ron. Ducks hunting was over decoys in the flooded field areas south of the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee.

Lake Okeechobee duck hunters Mike Compitiello (Plantation, FL - e-mail: mikecompitiello@cs.com) and Jim Goldman got their limit of ducks during a morning of duck hunting on September 24, 2005 with Cap'n Ron. They had an excellant morning of duck hunting with many shots at wood ducks and blue-winged teal. Mike bagged a pair of wood ducks. Jim got a limit of blue-winged teal. They hunted over decoys in the flooded field areas south of the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee.
