I would have to say that the September 2000 early season duck hunting was the best ever. There were thousands and thousands of blue-winged teal all over Lake Okeechobee's grass flats from behind the Spoil Islands all the way to South Moonshine. This massive congregation of teal on the lake was do to the drought conditions Florida was experiencing. The mile long flocks of duck reminded me of the 60's when it was common place to see flocks of duck that stretched that far.

Duck Hunting Report - Florida Lake Okeechobee - September 26, 2000

Lake Okeechobee duck hunter Joe Lock (Mulberry, FL - ph: 863-425-1864) bagged a limit of blue-winged teal during a morning of duck hunting on September 26, 2000 with Cap'n Ron. Ducks were taken over decoys in the Hay Field area of Lake Okeechobee.

Lake Okeechobee duck hunters Todd Neldberg (Miami, FL - ph: 305-893-0224) and Charlie bagged several blue-winged teal, missed others and could not locate others they dropped during a morning of duck hunting on September 26, 2000 with Cap'n Ron. Ducks were taken over decoys in the Iron Stake area of Lake Okeechobee. They also caught 12 bass up to 4 lbs during an afternoon of bass fishing they combined with their duck hunting on the afternoon of September 25, 2000.

Lake Okeechobee duck hunters Bob Gassie (Orlando, FL - ph: 407-246-8944) and 2 friends bagged several blue-winged teal and could not locate others they dropped during an afternoon of duck hunting on September 24, 2000 with Cap'n Ron. Ducks were taken over decoys in the Iron Stake area of Lake Okeechobee.

Lake Okeechobee early season duck hunters Bryce Statham (Pembroke Pines, FL - ph: 954-612-4760) Joe, Gary and 4 friends bagged several bag limits of blue-winged teal during 2 mornings and 1 afternoon of duck hunting on September 23 & 24, 2000 with Cap'n Ron. Many of the ducks could not be found in the high weeds. Ducks were taken in the in the Iron Stake and Moonshine areas of Lake Okeechobee.

Lake Okeechobee duck hunters Raul Rodriguez and his son (Miami, FL - ph: 305-386-7724) bagged 1 wood duck, several blue-winged teal and others they could not locate during an afternoon and morning of duck hunting on September 23 & 24, 2000 with Cap'n Ron. Ducks were taken over decoys in the R Pole and Iron Stake area of Lake Okeechobee.

Duck Hunting Report - Florida Lake Okeechobee - September 23 & 24, 2000

Lake Okeechobee early season duck hunters Johnson Mannil (Elizabeth, NJ - ph: 908-994-0750) and Vidur Chandy each had a bag limit of blue-winged teal during 2 mornings of duck hunting on September 23 & 24, 2000 with Cap'n Ron. They also took 2 wild hogs during an afternoon wild boar hunt (Sept. 23, 2000) in Glades county. These guys combined a 2 day early season teal and wood duck hunt with their wild boar hunt. Ducks were taken over decoys in the Monkey Box area of Lake Okeechobee.
